Passivation is a chemical process in which a dense, stable oxide film forms on the surface of a metal or alloy. This film isolates the underlying metal from corrosive substances (e.g., air, water, acid/alkaline solutions), significantly reducing the metal’s chemical reactivity and preventing further corrosion or oxidation.
